Why I Stopped Blogging for 8 Months

Hey hey, welcome to my newly designed blog! And when I say “newly designed”, I mean I went through the ‘agonising’ process of selecting a completely new theme. Yay for me!

I know I haven’t blogged in awhile – it’s been about 8 months to be exact. I wanted to explain to you what I’ve been up to, and why I haven’t been blogging.

Why I stopped blogging

It got all a bit too much. I was spending a lot of money, time, and energy to run this blog. And it was significantly impacting my health. For example, I was clenching my jaw so bad from stress, that I couldn’t even open my mouth properly to eat or brush my teeth! Very unpleasant, I know.

That’s when it hit home that I needed to take a break. In fact, I was close to shutting down this blog altogether. Until I found another reason to keep blogging.

New year, new business

I decided to start writing again because of a new business I started this year. I launched my new business, Weekend, on the 1st April 2017. It’s a retail business that I’m trialing out and I’m totally excited!

To be honest with you, I have failed many, many times in trying to start and run a business. But I have learned so much from each failure as well. This is exactly why I want to start blogging again.

My goal is to gather all the lessons that I’ve learned from my past failed attempts. And apply all of it to help Weekend succeed. I plan to record all the details of my journey in growing Weekend, and hope that my lessons will help your business too in some way.

Improved blogging

Just to warn you though, my new blog posts will be different from my previous ones:

  1. It will be less article-y, and more of a personal message that I write to you. Like as if I’m emailing a friend. This will help me to get content out to you faster.
  2. I won’t be blogging every fortnight. It will be irregular and I’ll be writing whenever I have a moment. This is so that I don’t put too much pressure on myself and end up with a disabled jaw again. Please subscribe to my blog if you would like email notifications whenever I post something new.
  3. I won’t be writing novels anymore and will try to keep the posts’ length to a minimum. This is to help me, but also so that I don’t put you to sleep.

That’s it from me for now!

My next post will be about how I applied the Lean Startup framework to save time and money while launching my business, Weekend.

Have you been burned from overworking before? How did you overcome it?
